Outfit of the Day: Silk and Leather

(Bouse-Thrifted, Jacket-Sparkle and Fade via Urban Outfitters, Jeans-Levi's, Necklace-Sequin via Nordstrom, Shoes-Me Too via Von Maur)

Today was my last day of classes before spring break, and it was torture sitting through three power lectures. But I'm so exciting to have the next week off! I will be doing lots of shopping and am so exciting to create some new outfits!

I bought this shirt from Goodwill for $2 a few weeks ago. I'm not a huge fan of shopping at Goodwill but my bestfriend begged me to go in with her and I'm so glad I did!

Outfit of the Day: Sunday Errands

(Jacket-Calvin Klein via Macy's, T-Shirt-Frenchi via Nordstrom, Jeans-Lucky Brand via Marshalls, Flats-Ralph Lauren via Macy's, Purse-Etienne Aigner via DSW)

Please excuse the no makeup and yesterday hair, but I wanted to do a super casual post showing you what I wear to run errands and spend hours in the library.

These are probably the most comfortable jeans I own, perfect for running around town and sitting in an uncomfortable library chair for five hours.  I think the jacket and flats help make the look more put together so I don't look like a total mess. One more week until spring break!

Outfit of the Day: Spring has Sprung

(Top-Kim Chi Blue via Urban outfitters, Jeans-J.Crew, Sandals-Corso Como via Nordstrom)

(Awkward back photo but I wanted to show how adorable the back is!)

It has been so warm here, in the 80s! Normally in March we are still trudging through feet and feet of snow! I'm so excited to be wearing tank tops and sandals, however none of my shorts or capris from last year fit so I'm doing the ole roll up the pants look.  But its still cute right?

PS I know my hair is obnoxiously long, but I'm going to be donating it in about a week.  I've been skipping my monthly trim for the past two months so it won't be super short when I donate it.  And in the mean time I'm trying to rock as many long hair looks as I can!

Outfit of the Day: Subtle Green

(Sweater-Banana Republic, Blouse-(not sure of the designer) via Goodwill, Jeans-Gap, Belt- really old (from Urban Outfitters I think), Flats-Tory Burch via Nordstrom, Watch-Michael Kors via Nordstrom)

I found these outfit photos and thought since yesterday was St. Patrick's Day I would show you how to wear green for the day and still look chic! I've had this belt since I was in middle school, and recently found it again and thought I would start wearing it again! It has four rows of studs so it is super heavy but I love the brown with the gold studs, I haven't seen a belt like it anywhere else. Hope everyone had a happy and safe St. Patrick's day!

Outfit of the Day: Volunteering

(Shirt-Gap, Belt-Gap, Jeans-Lucky Brand via Marshall's, Shoes-Franco Sarto via Nordstrom)

I volunteered at a local community center last night for Kids Night Out. It was so much fun and the kids were adorable!! This is what I wore except I ended up changing my shoes, I wore converse instead because we had to walk across this huge field and I decided that despite the fact that these have the tiniest wedge in the world, it could still end badly when walking  across a giant uneven field in the pitch black.  The shirt is showing up kind of cream in these photos but it is neon yellow. I love it and got it from Gap for only like $23! They probably still have it so check it out! Who else is excited for spring neons??

Outfit of the Day: Already Blogged

(Shirt-Gap, Cords-Gap, Belt-Gap(old), Shoes-Tory Burch, Earrings-Anthropology, Watch-Michael Kors via Nordstrom)

So I may have blogged this outfit once before. Ok, I have blogged this outfit before. But it was awhile ago and before I had a tripod so you've never seen what it looks like on. Not to mention I think it is adorable and I would wear it every other day if that were acceptable. Plus, it's getting so warm out that I'm afraid I won't be able to wear corduroys for a long time, so I'm wearing them while I can!

Outfit of the Day: Non Stop

(Sweater-Anthropology, T-Shirt-Gap, Jeans-Banana Republic Outlet, Boots-Nine West via DSW)

Today is a super busy day, I have four meetings, a phone interview and a ton of homework to finish up so I went for a more comfortable look. I love this sweater because it is perfect for spring, it's not too warm but I won't be freezing when spending hours in the library.  I decided to add the boots for a little more of a chic look, I think these boots are absolutely adorable but I regret buying them because the height makes my legs look super super short. But I figure if I'm going to be sitting most of the day maybe no one will notice...

Outfit of the Day: Sandstorm

(Blouse-J.Crew, Jeans-Lucky Brand, Shoes-Tory Burch)

I was doing some shopping on the main street on near campus with my friend and it was so windy, it felt like we were stuck in a sandstorm.  I've been dumping sand out of my shoes all afternoon. I love this blouse, I usually stay away from red but this was such an adorable top I had to get it. Plus the light fabric is perfect for spring!

Outfit of the Day: Time to Layer Up

(Jacket-(not sure sorry), Sweater-Banana Republic, Tank Top-Banana Republic, Jeans-Levi's, Shoes-Banana Republic)

When I woke up this morning, (an hour and 45 minutes before my alarm was supposed to go off, does anyone else wake up super early on the days they get to sleep in like me? I just don't understand it) the sun was shining, birds were chirping and it looked like a beautiful day. Well I was wrong, it's freezing, so I decided to layer up.  You need to be careful when layering because you can just look like you threw your whole closet on.  I've found you need to let every layer peek out a little and that throwing a tailored jacket on top helps bring it all together!

Outfit of the Day: The 80's Workout Video

(Sweater-Caslon via Nordstrom, Tank top-Gap, Jeans-Banana Republic, Shoes-Convserse via Nordstrom Rack)

Anyone else feeling the 80s workout video vibe from this outfit? I feel like all I need to do is throw on some leg warmers and a scrunchie.

Anyway, today is going to be a long day, I started at 7:30am and am going until 8pm, so I needed to be comfortable.  Cropped oversized sweater + stretchy jeans + converse = sporty comfortable chic! I love the color of this tank top, it is super hot pink and it reminds me that spring is on its way! Which means graduation! Yay!

Outfit of the Day: Green Pearls

(Sweater-J.Crew, Tanktop-Target, Jeans-Banana Republic, Shoes-Ralph Lauren via Macy's, Necklace-not sure...really old, Watch-Michael Kors via Nordstrom)

I've had this necklace since I was in middle school, I'm also pretty sure I haven't worn it since then.  I love finding old treasures in my jewelry box, especially when I can find a way to modernize them, like making this super long chain of pearls into a statement necklace.

Today is a pretty casual day, just planning on going to class, running some errands and actually spending some time in the library.  Not to mention it is finally warm here! Currently it is 54F and sunny. Here's to hoping it lasts!

Outfit of the Day: I was Supposed to go to the Library...

(Sweat-Gap, Jeans-Lucky, Boots-Nine West, Belt-Gap, Bracelets-Banana Republic, Watch-Michael Kors via Nordstrom)

My goal today was to go to the library, everyday this week my goal has been to go to the library, but I haven't made it there yet.  I did however dress for a six hour library session, comfy sweater, stretchy jeans, and boots, and still that didn't help.  Oh well there's always tomorrow.

And yes, I realize my boots match the color of my sweater a little too closely, but I swear in person it's not that bad.

Playing with Prints

Honestly, prints terrify me.  The biggest print I'll usually wear is stripes, and thats usually navy and white stripes only.  But I decided since prints are going to be big for the spring and summer it's time I step out of my comfort zone.  Below are three outfits I created that would be perfect for going to class, running errands, shopping and so on.  After creating these outfits, I'm really starting to like prints and am dying to try out some bigger bolder patterns.

(Blouse-Collective Concepts via Hot Mama, Jacket-Laura Ashley via Boston Store, Jeans-Banana Republic Outlet, Boots-Cole Haan via Nordstrom)

I played it pretty safe with this outfit, the print in the blouse is pretty sublet but I decided to make things a little more exciting by playing with color and adding a bright pink jacket. Also, since the top is so loose and flowy, the jacket helps bring it in and make it not look like I'm wearing a top that is three sizes too big.

(Blouse-Charter Club via Macy's, Jacket-Calvin Klein via Macy's, Jeans-Banana Republic, Boots-Frye)

Leopard is one of my other favorite prints, I usually reserve it for shoes and handbags, but when I spotted this shirt for $12 I just couldn't say no.  You have to be careful with leopard, it can start looking tacky really quick.  I decided to add an army green jacket and boots to toughen the look up and keep the leopard looking chic.

(Blouse-h.i.p. via Nordstrom, Jacket-Anthropology, Jeans-Banana Republic, flats-Tory Burch via Nordstrom)

For this final look I decided to mix prints. To make sure they would work together I kept the colors similar. I love this look and think it would be perfect for a yacht ride, not that I go on those...ever, but if I were, this is what I would wear.  I decided to keep it simple on the bottom with nude flats and jeans.

Outfit of the Day: Perfectly Preppy

(Blazer-Martin and Osa, Sweat-Ann Taylor Loft, Blouse-New York and Company, Jeans-J.Crew, Shoes-Ralph Lauren via Macy's, Watch-Michael Kors via Nordstrom, Bracelet-Banana Republic)

I know what you guys are thinking, "Really Ali? You're wearing this blazer again?" I just can't get enough of it! It goes perfectly with everything. I'm currently on the hunt for some new blazers, any suggestions?? I don't want anything too businessy, the thing I love about this one is it's cotton and its has an adorable lining! I actually kind of feel like if I put a plaid skirt on, this would look exactly like a private school uniform.

Wishing It Were Spring

I am so excited for spring! Especial the neon colors! This is my idea of  perfect spring outfit and all these items are currently on my wish list. The look is so effortless but chic at the same time. The perfect spring time look for some shopping with the girls!

Also sorry I've been so MIA, it's been a crazy few weeks with school, interviews and my cousins beautiful wedding in Hong Kong! But I promise it will be back to normal scheduling this weekend.
